Retral is back with his brand new album ‘borderline’.

'borderline' is an epic dive into Retral's realm of emotions, thoughts and nature. This album brings back the sound of old school instrumental beat tapes inspired by Dilla, Madlib and early Kanye.

Retral says;

"While I was out on the streets delivering parcels, whether it was pouring with rain or the sun was shining, I knew this project was something I could escape into.

Whether it be by building playlists to inspire me on my rounds, swinging into record shops to do a bit of crate digging on my breaks, or using 'borderline' as some escapism at the end of my day - it was my happy place for 6 months.

I hadn't made beats in about 10 years so it felt amazing to get stuck back in. I started exploring ofther ways to produce music rather than just using ableton and my mpd. I messed around with pocket operators, the koala app on my ipad, cassette tape loops etc. It was fun to learn again.

Due to my borderline personality disorder diagnosis, things are usually all or nothing with me, and I put every ounce of creative energy into 'borderline' to the point that I burnt myself out."
